Quiet/Circuit

Product design & engineering studio

We design the quiet parts of products. Then we build them.

The approach

Most products fail in the seams nobody drew. We start there, sketch the friction, prototype the feeling, and ship code that behaves the way the drawing promised. Every decision is made in the open, on the real thing.

How we work

Three rooms, one door.

Research in the dark

We watch real use before we draw anything. Friction is logged, not guessed, and every sketch cites the moment it answers.

Prototype in motion

Clickable, touchable, and physically honest. We test feel with the same rigour as flows, then throw out what doesn't hold.

Ship with nerve

We write the production code ourselves, instrument it, and stay until the first real users have gone quiet in the good way.

Illustrative

Drag to see the seam.

The left side is the screen as a spec describes it. The right side is the same screen after we have argued with it. The differences are small and they are everything.

Studies

Generative studies, hover to run.

Three small systems we use to test motion, rhythm and density before a product gets a single pixel of colour. Hover or focus a study to animate it.

Rings, wobbleRadial rhythm for loading states.
Rods, phaseTravelling waves for progress and sync.
Curve, driftSlow harmonic motion for ambient surfaces.

Process

A typical shape. Yours will differ.

Durations are illustrative and vary with scope, team, and how quickly the seams reveal themselves.

  1. Week 01 · Illustrative

    Listen and map

Interviews, usage logs, and a shared map of where people hesitate.

  2. Weeks 02–03 · Illustrative

    Sketch the feeling

Two competing directions, tested on paper and on a throwaway prototype.

  3. Weeks 04–07 · Illustrative

    Build the honest version

Design and engineering side by side, in the same repository, every day.

  4. Week 08+ · Illustrative

    Ship, watch, adjust

Launch with instrumentation, then stay for the quiet weeks after.

Two paragraphs are enough. We reply within a working week with questions, not a proposal template.
